I'm originally from Wappingers Falls, NY. I was a special education teacher who loved the integrated co-taught setting in elementary schools and relocated upstate with my husband Kevin in late 2016. In 2018, I was teaching and doing the whole life thing when our son Graham arrived 3 months early (not a typo) and spent the first four months of his life in the NICU at the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center. As you can imagine, navigating this kind of entrance into motherhood wasn't easy, and I didn't exactly have established roots quite yet. We made it through the NICU and it became clear that our son would need extensive supports at home, so I left my teaching career to stay home with him. We knew we were lucky to be able to make that decision, especially when we all know what happened in 2020. This wasn't exactly the parenting gig I thought I had signed up for! I loved teaching, so I worked for a semester as an adjunct for SUNY Oneonta teaching teacher candidates an intro to special education class. I truly loved the experience, but the work-life balance just wasn't right for us at the time.

Flash forward a few years and little sister Gwen arrived and joined the Boyd fam. I was again looking for the village I had been told about in motherhood, and boom! Fit4Mom Queensbury-Saratoga Springs came into view. I could work out AND bring my kids with me?! It sounded too good to be true. Spoiler alert: it wasn't! Beth had created a village of welcoming moms who made re-entering the workout world an easy and fun transition! I met mom friends, my kids made friends, and I knew life would never be the same!

I joined Beth as co-owner in June 2024 and I can honestly say that Fit4Mom QSS isn't just about the fitness. It's a community of families that have come together to raise our kids and create the small moments that turn into lasting memories. We all enter and experience motherhood differently, and together we can continue to build an inclusive village where all moms feel welcomed, supported, and valued.
